In The Mirror This week

Face The Mirror

In Season 3, Episode 18 of Mirror Mirror, Kayla and Will take a deeper look at the stories dominating social media and ask one question: Are we looking at the facts, or are we reacting to what we already believe?

The conversation starts with the viral controversy surrounding Texas Roadhouse and allegations of racism involving a Facebook group, including disturbing claims about the treatment of Black customers and alleged food tampering. We discuss what has been reported, what remains alleged, corporate responsibility, individual accountability, and the danger of allowing something to become “fact” simply because it went viral.

Then we turn to the developing information surrounding Hayden’s death, examining the difference between confirmed facts, statements, online theories, and unanswered questions. Why does the internet become so determined to solve someone else’s tragedy—and what happens when speculation starts replacing reality?

We also have a difficult and important conversation about Keshia Golden, domestic violence, self-defense, and accountability. Golden’s case raises complicated questions about survival, repeated domestic violence calls, pregnancy, self-defense, the legal system, and the way society judges someone’s final act without always examining everything that led them there.

And finally, we get into the Dalton and Sako relationship saga, the rumors surrounding their relationship, public speculation, and the complicated boundaries that come with putting your personal life online. When does an audience become too invested? If you share your relationship publicly, does the public have a right to answers—or do we sometimes forget that we’re watching real people?

This episode is ultimately about perspective, assumptions, accountability, social media, relationships, domestic violence, racism, grief, and the stories we create when we don’t have all the answers.

Because sometimes the reflection in the mirror isn’t the whole story.
